Renogy 320 watt Monocrystalline Residential Panels – *UPDATED SOLAR REVIEW* we are in the process of switching out our Grape Solar 100 watt panels back to the renogy panels we had on our first van. After testing out the smaller panels we realized the bigger residential panels are WAY more efficient – like a huge difference! The Grape Solar panels were also polycrystalline which also may have been why they weren’t as efficient for us. We are glad we could test out different options but we would recommend residential panels for maximum efficiency and better bang for your buck.

Insulation

This time around we went with 100% wool throughout our whole build! We used the loose fill knops from Wool Life and had so much fun with the install! We used a leaf blower to fill the knops in the mesh paneling they provided. They do have wool batts as well but we like the knops and don’t think they will settle due to the vibration from the road as much as the batts. Get 5% off with our code ‘HuntersVanlife5‘. They have the best customer service and were super helpful with sizing our van.

A few reasons why we chose wool:

  • Non toxic
  • Highest thermal value
  • Sound Deadening
  • Absorbs moisture, air humidity from the environment, maintains a good indoor temperature, and keeps the air free of odors.
  • Naturally purifies the air free of toxins, filtering and rendering down formaldehyde and other VOCs
  • Remains chemical-free
  • Fire retardant, flame resistant
  • Wool is totally renewable, it doesn’t deplete the world’s resources, and it doesn’t contribute to toxic landfill.
